About the Artist

The sculptor Haydn Brown lives in Wiley, Colorado with his wife and 5 children.  They live in an old farmhouse on a few acres, and enjoy a quiet, country lifestyle. Inspiration for his art is drawn from environmental, familial and spiritual sources.

Haydn has been working with the band saw for 26 years starting at the age of 12.  He continued to pay his dues working for a small crafts company cutting out tens of thousands of shapes like sunflowers, angels, ducks, Christmas trees, etc.  It was piecework paying 5¢ each necessitating fast precise work in order to make it worthwhile.  His technique varies from the norm in that he sets up his machine without guide blocks for the blade.  The blade moves much more freely, and there is a silky smooth relationship between man and machine.
